چکیده

Methemoglobin is a structurally modified form of hemoglobin incapable binding oxygen, and elevated levels methemoglobin cause tissue hypoxia. Occupational exposure to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene, commonly called trinitrotoluene, causes methemoglobinemia. This case report describes 27-year-old male sergeant who developed methemoglobinemia upon trinitrotoluene after blast injury while welding the walls tank shells. first its kind in Korea. The patient had multiple burns his abdomen open fractures right leg. While body temperature, heart rate, respiratory arterial blood pressure, chest X-ray were normal, gas analysis revealed acute (methemoglobinemia concentration, 13.5%; oxygen saturation, 92.0%), probably caused by nitroglycerin exposure. Aspiration adsorption through skin system suspected be routes entry. His normalized 4 days treating wounds surgically, administering therapy, performing transfusion.

Background & Importance: Acute epidural hematoma is a very rare complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion. The insertion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt can cause sudden decompression of the brain, subsequent to which epidural hematoma occurs due to CSF drainage. Benzocaine and lidocaine induced methemoglobinemia after bronchoscopy: a case report

INTRODUCTION Methemoglobinemia is a rare cause of hypoxemia, characterized by abnormal levels of oxidized hemoglobin that cannot bind to and transport oxygen. CASE PRESENTATION A 62-year-old male underwent bronchoscopy where lidocaine oral solution and Hurricaine spray (20% benzocaine) were used. He developed central cyanosis and his oxygen saturation was 85% via pulse oximetry. An arterial b...

Acute methemoglobinemia after endoscopy.

Acute methemoglobinemia may be caused by topical anesthetics and other oxidizing medications commonly prescribed by Family Physicians. Without knowledge of this potentially lethal condition, delay in diagnosis and treatment is likely. Methemoglobinemia should be considered in any patient presenting with cyanosis, particularly after the use of oxidizing medications. We describe a case of methemo...
